About Dallas Edu Funding and our data

An independent guide to the money available for private, church, Catholic, homeschool and pre-K education in Greater Dallas, built on public state and federal records.

Dallas ISD families finished TEFA's first funding round with more accounts than any district in Texas except Houston ISD, and the suburbs in Collin, Denton, Rockwall, Kaufman and Ellis counties added thousands more. Yet many Dallas parents still don't know which schools participate, how the account fits with diocesan tuition assistance or a learning-differences school's price, or what happens to a waitlisted child next year. We exist to answer those questions plainly.

A School Funding Advisor looks at each family's district, income tier, schools and children, then builds a funding plan and introduces the family to schools that accept that funding. A private partner focused on expanding church-run and community schools supports our work. That relationship is labeled wherever it is relevant, and it has no say in which funding sources we point families toward.

Where the school data comes from

Which schools take TEFA. On October 12, 2026 we downloaded every listing in the Comptroller's participating-school finder (finder.educationfreedom.texas.gov, operated by Odyssey) for Dallas, Collin, Denton, Rockwall, Kaufman and Ellis counties, including pre-K providers, and kept the programs, discounts and descriptions schools entered themselves. Being in the finder means the school holds accreditation from TEA or a TEPSAC-recognized agency, has been open for two or more years, and gives students an annual test.

U.S. Department of Education records. Enrollment, teacher counts, religious orientation and association memberships come from the federal Private School Survey public-use files for 2023-24, with 2021-22 filling in schools that skipped the latest round. That survey also surfaces long-running Dallas schools that haven't joined TEFA, which is why our directory of 296 K-12 schools is larger than the state list.

Who gets a profile page. We build a dedicated page only where public records support one, meaning federal enrollment and staffing figures or a TEFA listing with a substantive description or program list. Every other school still appears in our directory tables, and any school can claim its listing to add detail.

Where the numbers come from. Award amounts, approved uses and the pre-K eligibility list are taken from educationfreedom.texas.gov. District funded-student counts are from the Comptroller's TEFA Annual Demographic Report (snapshot of July 29, 2026), and IEP totals use the 2026-27 Special Education Funding Table. Diocese of Dallas figures come from dallascatholic.org, csodallas.org, The Texas Catholic and CBS News Texas; Catholic Foundation figures from its spring 2026 grant report; school participation notes from People Newspapers and D Magazine. Neither public source reports tuition.

Because Texas keeps no registry of private schools, some will slip through. If yours is missing, let us know and we'll verify and list it.

Dallas Edu Funding is a project of Boss Leads. We are not a school, the Texas Comptroller, Odyssey, the Catholic Diocese of Dallas, the Catholic Foundation, or a government agency.
