Which schools take TEFA
Our check of the state finder shows most diocesan elementary schools participating, from St. Cecilia and Mount St. Michael in Oak Cliff to Prince of Peace in Plano and St. Martin de Porres in Prosper. Jesuit, Ursuline, Bishop Lynch, Bishop Dunne and John Paul II High School were listed too. Cristo Rey Dallas College Prep and Cistercian were not in the finder when we checked.
Getting the order right
The diocese stresses that a TEFA application doesn't enroll a child. Apply to the Catholic school first, be accepted, and be enrolled by July 1 so the account can pay that school.
Diocesan tuition assistance
The Catholic Schools Office Tuition Assistance Program is need-based and runs through FACTS. Last cycle it had a priority round for current families from Oct. 20 to Dec. 20 and a regular round for new families from Dec. 21 to Mar. 20.
The Catholic Foundation
The Catholic Foundation in Dallas distributes tuition assistance through schools. In spring 2026 its tuition funds reached 15 schools, most of them in the city of Dallas, including St. Philip & St. Augustine, St. Pius X, Our Lady of Perpetual Help and Holy Trinity. It also funds a high school tuition program for children of diocesan employees.
High school math
TEFA pays the same in grade 9 as in grade 1, and Catholic high school tuition in Dallas runs well above the award. Families usually combine the account, school aid, sibling rates, and any balance rolled over from the elementary years.
Denton County is different
Catholic schools in Denton County, including Immaculate Conception in Denton, are part of the Diocese of Fort Worth, so their aid program and calendar are separate from Dallas's.
