The Diocese of Dallas covers Dallas, Collin, Ellis, Kaufman and Rockwall counties, plus four more counties. Its Catholic Schools Office oversees 36 schools and about 14,000 students. Catholic schools in Denton County, such as Immaculate Conception in Denton, belong to the Diocese of Fort Worth and follow that diocese's aid rules.
Superintendent Jeannette Lambert told The Texas Catholic in December 2025 that TEFA "will open doors to a faith-based education for families that may not have believed it was possible." The diocese hired a TEFA liaison, Isabel Puente, to walk principals, pastors and parents through the program, and its families page points out that applying for TEFA doesn't enroll a child: the family must be accepted by a Catholic school and enrolled by July 1 to use the account there.
The Tuition Assistance Program is paid from diocesan education endowments, the Bishop's Invitational Golf Tournament and other funds, and it targets families with the greatest need. For 2026-27 there were two rounds through the FACTS application: a priority round from Oct. 20 to Dec. 20 for students already in a diocesan school, and a regular round from Dec. 21 to Mar. 20 open to new families, with awards announced in February and May.
Separately, the Catholic Foundation in Dallas reported $1.55 million in grants and tuition assistance to 37 North Texas Catholic schools, churches and community organizations at its spring 2026 ceremony. Tuition money from its Louise Emma Buhrer Endowment Fund and Dorothy Irving Memorial Fund went to 15 schools, including Mount St. Michael, St. Cecilia, St. Elizabeth of Hungary, St. Mary of Carmel and Santa Clara of Assisi. That aid flows through the schools, so ask the principal or business office about it rather than applying to the foundation.
Combining it with other sources
Few Dallas families pay with one source alone. This one generally stacks with a school's own discounts and need-based aid and with at least one other source on our funding list, and the funding check lays out the combination that fits your child.
